Hey ya'll. I am Mrs. Freeman and I am a technology education teacher at Kelowna Secondary School. I have been teaching here for over 10 years!!! I started in the metal shop, teaching Metal Art, Metal Fabrication, Power Technology 10 and Automotive 10. A few years ago, I found my "dream" job as a Drafting and Woodwork teacher and I couldn't be happier.
I have two amazing kiddos, play soccer and Foosball religiously, quad and dirt bike with the fam-jam on weekends, and love renovating my house. We are so busy!!!! Never a dull moment! I wear my heart on my sleeve and share lots with my students, as you'll see when you take my classes.
I am VERY passionate about trades and technology and the future it holds for my students. I once, was a brainwashed teenager, being told that university was the BEST way to go, and promised the best future for me. So off I went, an aspiring architect, taking my bachelor of science. It only took me two struggling years to figure out that it was NOT for me. Sitting in class all day, the Calculus...the Physics.....barf...Seriously, how applicable is that stuff in our everyday lives? So I decided to go into Drafting, made a fabulous portfolio, and had a career choice epiphany: If I love drafting and building things so much, and I love working with people, then why not go into teaching this stuff? The road led to BCIT and I found myself becoming a shop teacher. Best decision (and job) ever!
My roots are deeply grounded in helping our students find their way in life. I want to show them, that some of the most successful people in the world, are trades people and company owners. Where did they start? In the high school shops of course! I can help! Please come see me and let's have a conversation about where you want to go. And while we're at it, let's build some cool stuff.
